How Wide is the Gap Between Science and Deity?

Often, I have spent my time wondering mentally through a sea of darkness; each new thought to open my intellect. I’ve found no peace, solace or order of one discipline being reason or prayer. How is it that man can believe in science when theory is plagued with error and bias? What is religion without intelligent design and a deity?

Casting all aside, fore I can’t support a broken idea, the imperfections of both are needed to stride the gap in understanding between them. For he that would limit himself to a fix ideal before truth be reveled, denieth his completeness of understanding.

For instance, from science we take Newton's First Law of Motion:

“A body at rest will remain at rest, and a body in motion will remain in motion unless it’s acted upon by an external force.”

For where in is the Big Bang if eons of time came and went and Newton's law holds true?

From religion, and a book written long after creation, we read Genesis 1: 1-3 (KJV)

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Out of my own thoughts, I find these two the same. All that comes after this point falls on the same weakness of logic and foundation. Where’s our true origin? Isn’t order light and matter... isn’t it ordered? For if I were like unto God, wouldn’t I know my own senses and thoughts pertaining to the void of reason? After a time, wouldn’t I come to know the thought filtered senses of others in passing? Then wouldn’t a loving God also open a channel of communication to reinforce a developing living order?

For isn’t it the only reason we exist, but as an act of Godly Charity? Do I not know that I live despite reason to the contrary and skepticism of the unknown?

I know that God lives. I’ve heard His voice above the traffic in Lille, France when I was lost. I’ve seen His servant when I questioned if He knew me. I’ve experienced His power when I needed direction in helping others.

I know James 1:5-15 (KJV) is true if we are sincere.

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

I chose my church after coming to know and trust my God on my knees. This isn’t to take away that God wouldn’t help any sincere person at any time... no matter their religion. It’s to state that God granted us agency to seek Him; and if we do, He’ll counsel, bless, and entrust us if we are willing to learn. Not all religions teach, minister, or entrust faithful members with the responsibilities of eternal development. Very few other religions teach of personal revelation and the importance of personally knowing God. Plainly, religion is at the base of everything for what are we without a direction.
